The LPIC-1 is designed to reflect current researches and validate a candidate's proficiency in real world system administration. LPIC-1 exams (101 and 102) is required to obtain the LPIC level 1 certification.
LPIC-1 101-400: LPIC-1 101-400 is the first certification in LPI s multi-level Linux professional certification program. The LPIC-1 exam topics are Linux installation and package management; GNU and Unix commands; devices, Linux filesystems, filesystem hierarchy standard.
LPIC-1 102-400: LPIC-1 102-400 exam topics are essential system services; networking fundamentals; security; shells, scripting and data management; interfaces and desktops; administrative tasks.
While there are no official prerequisites for the exam however, LPI recommends candidates to have twelve months of Linux administration experience along with CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ certifications.
In the event that you fail your first attempt at passing the LPIC 1 examination, CompTIA's retake policies are:
CompTIA does not require a waiting period between the first and second attempt to pass such examination. However, if you need a third or subsequent attempt to pass the examination, you shall be required to wait for a period of at least 14 calendar days from the date of your last attempt before you can retake the exam.
If a candidate has passed an exam, he/she cannot take it again without prior consent from CompTIA.
A test result found to be in violation of the retake policy will not be processed, which will result in no credit awarded for the test taken. Repeat violators will be banned from participation in the CompTIA Certification Program.
Candidates must pay the exam price each time they attempt the exam. CompTIA does not offer free re-tests or discounts on retakes.
